Automating Standards Compliance with Axione

Axione is a leading telecommunications infrastructure provider in France, specialising in the design, construction, and operation of digital networks. With a focus on delivering high-performance solutions, Axione supports the connectivity needs of businesses, government agencies, and communities across various sectors.

The company's expertise spans fibre optic networks, wireless communication systems, and innovative technologies, enabling reliable and efficient connectivity solutions tailored to the specific requirements of its clients.

Axione oversees more than 6M FTTH premises and 25 public initiative networks, connecting over 175 municipalities. However, despite being experts in addressing the complexities of nationwide cabling and wiring, the manual reviewing process proved to be extremely time-consuming and inefficient.

Axione partnered with Inveniam to automate the analysis of the more than 10,000 images collected daily across all operations relating to network connectivity. The goal in mind was to enable rapid location of errors on its built assets such as street cabinets by analyzing images much faster than the previous manual capacity allowed, reducing the heavy labor burden required for slow manual reviews, and managing third party compliance with their networkm standards.

“A long-lasting
collaboration.”

"With this solution, our cabinets have undergone significant enhancements, making FTTH cabling quality checks more efficient and precise across the region. We look forward to the continued evolution and additional use cases Inveniam can offer."
Gauthier Nanoux,
Head of Operation at Axione

Overview

As a major infrastructure owner in France, Axione faced the daunting task of manually analysing 10,000 pictures daily.

The challenge

Manual overload

10,000 image per day analysed manually, slowed auditing time and reduced efficiency.

Rising incident tickets

An increase in anomalies led to a rise in incident reports, straining maintenance and support teams.

Network monitoring

With the deployment of infrastructure rapidly expanding, it becomes impossible to monitor the health of the entire network.

The solution

Automated and instant analysis

With our AI solution, what took an entire day now requires less than an hour, providing both time and cost efficiency.

Comprehensive anomaly coverage

Our advanced AI models cover the full spectrum of anomalies and malfunctions imposed by the French regulator, ARCEP.

Data insights

Beyond just detections, we transformed large data into insightful, actionable directives for Axione.

The result

Scale & Coverage

With 8M+ images analysed in 2 years, 100% of Axione’s assets are now monitored within hours, accelerating the infrastructure auditing process.

Efficiency

46% drop in incident tickets resulting in 20,000 engineering hours saved per year.

Carbon emissions

15+ metric tons saved per year.

Automating Network Audits for XpFibre

XpFibre is one of the largest independent network operators in France with more than 7 million fibre sockets across the country. Managing a vast network of assets is a major challenge for large-scale operators, and managing the fleet of internal and third-party technicians who perform field work such as audits requires extensive resources and planning.

With such a large network under its remit, XpFibre encountered all-too-common telecom industry challenges relating to manual quality checks. Because of slow manual reviews anomalies, errors and low-quality work could go unidentified causing a build up of unresolved issues that cost the company valuable time and money.

This is where Inveniam came in to help.

Overview

XpFibre partners with Inveniam to improve management of its 7 million fibre sockets.

The challenge

XpFibre was spending valuable time performing slow and costly manual audits on its as-built network and daily operations, particularly relating to the vast number of street cabinets under its remit. Manual auditing means reviews can happen days or even weeks after issues have occurred, allowing what could have been minor problems to snowball into extensive and expensive site revisits and maintenance initiatives.

The solution

XpFibre turned to Inveniam to automate quality checks across its network, not only drastically reducing the time to resolution for issues and maintenance problems occurring on their network but to redirect the XpFibre team’s efforts from time-consuming repetitive auditing tasks towards initiatives with higher added values for the company.

The result

With automated audits, pictures and visual data pertaining to assets and all network operations can be quickly checked by the Inveniam solution. Degradation and poor installations are highlighted the moment visual data is submitted, allowing close tracking of the health of critical assets and leading to a reduction in site visits, rework and misguided maintenance initiatives.
